Initial Concept

My initial concept of this project was to be in the form of a music video with partial lip sync. I intended to make it comedic but didn’t yet have a song picked out. It was to follow the story of a drawn character with different facial expressions. The story behind this character is a journey of self-exploration. The character will be seen walking through different scenes but will be indifferent to his surroundings. He wanders and wanders until he comes across someone else singing a different music video. Curious he goes and joins him and together they make a duet.

Design Board

Wanderlust follows the story of a wandering man who has spent most of his life on the road. As a child, he grew up moving from foster home to foster home and as soon as he was old enough, he got in his car and hit the road.  He was leaving nothing behind, he just quit his part-time job, had no family, no close friends worth staying for. He was free now. He could go anywhere. And so… he went everywhere.

For several years, he was content with his life style but was unaware that his wandering was a journey of self-exploration. Through his many encounters with strange people on his journey, this man may just find what he didn’t know he was looking for.

Test Footage

Through our tireless efforts our project is evolving into a magnificent being. One of momentous drama, oscar-winning acting, and world-shocking cinematography that all combine into a cornucopia of awesomeness. The story in and of itself revolves around a mysterious driver with a haunting past. As the driver, Max, picks up random strangers they all contribute to a slow reveal of his history. Max struggles to resist his passengers’ urges for him to open, for him reconcile and find peace in his life. Our future award-winning film will be a mix of rotoscoped live action video and paper cutouts that shape the film into a dark and film noiresque piece.

Currently, our group has already filmed test shots that we are now editing to test out our theories and ideas to see if our dreams can become our realities. Each individual for this project are going through sleepless nights to bring you, the audience, a film that will take you on a roller coaster of emotions. It will sure be a ride that you will never forget.

Best regards,

Wanderlust / Progress Report 4

Progress Report 4

Our team is about 90% done with production which has included studio B green screen time & audio room time. We are focusing primarily on our rotoscoping and our strong editing skills. With the due date rapidly approaching, we have a lot of work to still do can definitely get it done. Time prioritization has been only issue we’ve faced a bit in my opinion, but I still think we’re doing well.  Cynthia and Jimmy have been taking care of the editing process while Dominic and I (Loukas) have done sound design and some camera work. We hit our dolly real quick and got a lil nice pan shot that I think you all will appreciate.

Shot by Shot Comparison

By studying car scenes and the different kinds of angles and shots, I was able to capture the scenes needed for this short film.
